Who is RANI TAJ?

Fondly dubbed the "Dhol Queen", RANI TAJ gained international recognition after her epic live dhol remix to Rihanna's 'Rude Boy'.  She has has been largely responsible for  a revival in the Dhol not only as musical instrument but as a cultural art form.

 

RANI TAJ is a British Dhol Player, trained by the Dhol Blasters and Azaad Dhol. She fell in love with the Dhol at the age of nine. After becoming a Senior Dhol Player with her respective groups, Rani has thrilled audiences from Hong Kong to Norway with her unique style and ability to fuse Dhol with different genres of music from all around the world.
In 2010 at the tender age of sixteen, she remixed live to Rihanna's 'Rude Boy' and became the first Dhol Player in the world to attract more than seven million hits on Youtube. The clip become  the most viewed video on Facebook that year and the most viewed dhol video on Youtube ever.
Since then she has not only played with legends such as Gurdas Mann, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Attaullah Khan but gone on to become a hugely respected and positive role model to people all over the world.
